Recent success in Fort Lauderdale

In 2005, Hurricane Wilma devastated Fort Lauderdale and many homes there. In 2010 we were contacted by Mrs. C***** concerning her roof damage. No claim was ever filed during the time after the storm as her husband was terminally ill. He died shortly after the storm. She was handling affairs and just never made a claim. When investigating a leak, her roofer determined that she had storm damage to her roof. She contacted AAA to assess the loss and file a claim with her insurer. The claim adjuster met with us, we showed him the damage and our estimate. He stated that the estimate looked reasonable and he would pay the claim, but when the check came, no interior damages were paid. He stated that it could not be proven that the inside damages were caused by the leaking roof from the storm. Our client was paid $104,500.00 for the roof, but the interior damages exceeded $64,000. AAA successfully argued for an additional $58,600.00 and everyone was happy. Client requests no calls but allowed for us to use her story. Many of our clients are snowbirds and do not know they have incurred a loss. Once they return to their home, they find damage. Late filing of a claim is tricky and must be handled expertly. Incorrect handling can get you a denial. Be careful which public adjuster you use. Many claims require kid-glove handling.
